What season is it again?

This week has managed to fit in all the seasons in one go! I've been caught in several snow/sleet/hail storms and i'm pretty much done with it all now. A little more sunshine please.

It's not put a damper (see what I did there!) on the birds, the garden has been buzzing with Blackbirds, Starlings, Magpies, Blue Tits, Sparrows, Robins, Dunnock, Woodpigeons and Collared Doves.

I've seen my first young Robin of the year near work and also had a Mistle Thrush chasing a Woodpigeon practically around my head, there was a brief moment when I ducked but i'm sure they weren't as close as I thought!

Another week or so and the Swifts should be back over the house, I look forward to hearing their screaming.

  1. It was a bit of a shock to wake up to all that snow on Saturday morning, and so cold. Stayed in all day and watched the bike race, finishing at home town of Settle.
Friday was just as cold but saw my first Swallows flying over the banks.. Been putting plenty of food out for the birds as it must be hard to find food in this cold weather , especially if they have young.
Young Robins are pretty little birds.

    1. I don't blame you, it's been nasty out! Yes the birds here have really been going through the food at the moment. Still lacking on Swallows, there's usually quite a few around work but not yet. x

  2. Similar conditions here in Surrey; rain .. sleet .. hail .. intermittent sunshine but fortunately no snow. Some would say typical UK Spring weather!

    1. At least the snow here didn't last long. I think so, probably just typical British weather really!

  3. It has certainly been a mixed week over here in the East Riding as well, though any settling snow was restricted to the top of the Yorkshire Wolds. Hopefully those Swifts will be here soon, they usually arrive between the 2nd and 5th of May in the skies above our house.

    1. Mixed is the word! They're usually here around the 7-9th May, it used to be a little earlier but I noticed the past 3 years or so they've been late.
